Why should you buy your own gear?
Scuba diving is a fun and exciting water activity. It’s no wonder, many people have experienced love at first underwater breath. Others have learned to love scuba diving after a few scuba sessions. If you’re passionate about diving, investing in your own gear is one of the things that you can look forward to in your journey.
If you already bought a mask, you might be wondering what’s next. You can consider getting a pair of dive boots which can be worn for both scuba diving and snorkeling. Dive boots, also called booties or wetsuit boots, may also be used in other water sports like sailing, surfing, and kayaking. They are worn with open-heel dive fins that’s why dive boots usually come with adjustable heel straps to keep the fins in place.
Benefits of wearing diving boots
Scuba diving boots may be underrated gear but they provide multiple benefits before, during, and after scuba diving. Watch this video link on how to fit dive booty and fins!
Protection
During a diving trip, always keep in mind that safety is of the essence. While diving, it might be difficult to see what is behind you and you may accidentally hit something that could hurt your feet. When you’re wearing dive boots, you can focus more on diving and not be constantly worried about injuring your feet.
Booties can keep your feet protected from sharp objects such as shells, rocks, and corals. Let’s say you are going on a wreck dive, deep sea diving boots will provide a layer of protection to prevent your feet from getting bruised or being cut by sharp fragments. They can also keep your feet safe from stings or bites. Since these booties are designed with traction, they will help prevent accidents on slippery grounds.
Warmth
One of the wonderful things about diving is the opportunity to dive in different parts of the world. This gear is made of neoprene which can keep your feet, toes, and ankles warm when diving in cold conditions.
Comfort
The fins heel strap may rub against the exposed skin of your feet or ankles. As you swim, the friction can chafe the skin and lead to blisters or bleeding. The best way to avoid this kind of discomfort is by wearing dive boots. This gear will add a protective layer between the strap and your skin. It also saves you from worrying about walking over scorching sand or abrasive rocks or shells when shore diving.
