Description
IST Tank Boot TB2
This IST Tank Boot TB2 is made of rubber, and fits 63 & 80 cubic foot Aluminium Cylinders, i.e. cylinders with a 184 mm (7.25 inch) diameter and flat base.
Why do we fit a tank boot to our scuba tanks?
To protect the bottom of your cylinder, and to limit roll — put on a tank boot.
All Scuba cylinders need a tank boot to protect the lower surface from damage. The tank boot allows the tank to stand up straight on a stable flat surface making mounting of buoyancy compensators, harness systems and regulators easier.
These self-draining flexible Rubber boots are easy to assemble to the tank.
Overview of the rubber tank boot:
- Constructed of tough, flexible rubber
- Drainage channels and holes allow water to escape quickly
- Keep tanks from rolling around on deck, at the pier or in the shop
- Protect valves by keeping your cylinders upright
Cylinder Boot Installation
If you’re buying a tank at the same time, we’ll install it for you — simply let us know at checkout using “notes”
If you are going to install it yourself, put the boot in very hot water to soften it up, then install it by dropping the tank securely into the boot until it reaches the bottom.
TOP TIP: Remove your cylinder boots every 3 months and wash the base of the cylinder and the boot to prevent unwanted corrosion.
